Spins like helicopter's tail rotor

This photo was taken on 4-Sep-08.

Cynthia has attempted to turn over her body several times but failed. In the photo, she was spinning her right arm while sitting on Alex's lap.

After almost 3 weeks of practising and trying, Cynthia can finally turned over her body! I think she changed her mind. Instead of right arm, she uses her left arm as leverage.

This was how Cynthia turned over her body (recorded on 22-Sep-08):

Good spirit of never give up! Keep it up, Cynthia! :-)

Our greeny little backyard

Alex loves sweet potato leaves. Each time we had dinner outside, we'll call 'stir fry sweet potato leaves'. Since we've decided not to renovate our backyard to wet kitchen, mum suggests we plant some vegetables. Sweet potato leaves grow fast and can adapt to any type of soil easily, somemore Alex likes to eat, so we give no second thought on what to plant first.

Sweet potato leaves - seeds provided by our neighbour next door, free of charge :)

We can't finish all these. I think this big quantity can serve as a dish for 3 to 4 small families in our neighbourhood. Probably this is still too little to sell to the newly open Chinese restaurant located 5 minutes walking distance from our home.

Tomato plant
As we know, tomato is rich in antioxidant. Eat plenty (means A LOT) of tomatoes resulting smooth face. This is real testimony from one of my friends who we worked together as front office receptionist when I was 17. If we can plant our own tomatoes, we can eat plenty of fresh tomatoes without worrying about pestiside and the market price. So, for my face's sake, Alex is planting tomatoes at our backyard even though my father tried planting tomatoes at Pasir Panjang hometown last year and it resulted green tiny mini tomatoes badly attacked by worms!

When we were back at hometown during Raya holiday, Alex consulted dad on building a shelter for the fragile tomato plants which washed to dead by the heavy rain pouring down from the roof edge. They went to the old chicken hut looking for un-used woods. Alex then went to Pasir Panjang town to buy 1 meter long green insect gauze from hardware shop. After we went back to Seremban, Alex spent the night (probably 3 hours?) building the shelter.

See the result:

The biggest tomato plant is in the middle, beneath the green shelter.

Alex, you are my hero! I love you!

Hari Raya celebration

We celebrated Raya in kampung, my parents' home.
One day before Raya, our Malay neighbour at kampung gave us these must-have dishes for Raya celebration. Rendang daging is my favourite. Taking lemang and ketupat together with curry chicken and rendang daging is a bliss. I was totally satisfied with the meal.

Altogether. 1/2 bamboo which contained the lemang, another 1/2 in the dustbin.

In the afternoon, our Malay neighbour opposite our home invited us (whole family) to their house for lunch. This time we had nasi beriani, ayam masak merah, beef curry, tapai and various types of kuih-muih. Cynthia played along well with a few children there. Our neighbour said Cynthia has bigger body size compared to her age :p

Here we go again:

Tapai. Kettle filled with water (to wash hands)
